The head of the Shura Council of the Ennahda Movement, Abdelkarim Harouni, said, on Wednesday, July 14, that his exit to the media and the assertion that the defect lies in the leadership of the government in the Kasbah, with the presence of parties opposing the transitional justice file, obstructing its passage and interfering in the political decision, led to the launch of “a lie of a compensation fund of 3000 million dinars.” For the benefit of the Ennahda movement before July 25.”
Harouni added in an interview with Express FM radio, “The lie of the compensation fund was made in the Casbah and started from that place,” noting that he calls for an immediate and urgent investigation to hold responsibilities, given that the one who spread this rumor wants to cause sedition in the country and disperse the Tunisians, and “which may lead to civil war,” he said.
He continued, « Successive governments misled everyone, including everyone who was subjected to grave violations before the revolution, as they said that they provided compensation to them, and this did not happen, and said that they would provide them with compensation from the proceeds of the Dignity Fund derived from external gifts, estimated at 3000 million dinars. » Al-Harouni said, “Whoever lied once will lie again and again,” noting that the victims of tyranny were wronged twice, as he put it.
“The fighter does not ask for compensation.”
Harouni stated that the term compensation did not appear in the constitution or in any law or in the order regulating the Dignity Fund. The fighter does not ask for compensation for his struggle, either, as he put it. He added that the compensation that the anti-colonial and anti-dictatorship fighters received was due to the outbreak of the Freedom and Dignity Revolution in 2011, noting that the compensation that everyone is waiting for is the building of a civil state without violations. He stated that what is required of transitional justice is reparation for all those who were subjected to torture and violations of bodily sanctities during the dictatorship, in order to reach comprehensive national reconciliation to live in peace without malice or hatred and to achieve social justice that provides development for the parties.
