Zaytouna TV announced today, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, that security units, accompanied by members of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, raided the channel’s headquarters and studios.
Lawyer Jilani Lamouchi had confirmed to “JDD Tunisie” that the military investigative judge at the Military Court in Tunis decided yesterday evening, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, to issue a prison card against his representative, Amer Ayyad, an activist in Zaytouna TV, in the case known as “Ahmed Matar’s poem,” in which he is accused of: “Changing the state’s authority, calling for disobedience, committing a despicable matter against the head of state, attributing illegal matters to a public official without providing proof of this, harming the dignity and reputation of the army, doing what would weaken in the army the spirit of the military system, obedience to the chiefs and the respect due to them, and criticizing the actions of the responsible public command. about the army’s actions in a way that affects their dignity.”It is worth noting that the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA) issued an ultimatum in May 2019 to immediately stop broadcasting Zaytouna TV, before taking the necessary legal measures in this regard, due to its broadcast outside the framework of the law.
HAICA called on all channels that broadcast outside the law to immediately stop broadcasting, before resorting again to taking the necessary legal measures, stressing the need for state institutions to play the role entrusted to them in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.HAICA also blamed a number of sins on the “Zaytouna” channel, in order to violate the restrictions related to political advertising, including “Hateya” on October 3, 2019, i.e. during the period of the legislative elections.
