The official spokesperson of the court of first instance of Kasserine, Riadh Nouaoui, confirmed this Tuesday, August 31, to “JDD Tunisie” that the public prosecutor has issued two search warrants against the leader of the “Qalb Tounes” party. », Nabil Karoui, and his brother the suspended deputy Ghazi Karoui, for having crossed the land border illegally. .
Nouaoui explained that the illegal entry into Algeria took place through the Kasserine governorate, hence the opening of an investigation against two people from the region suspected of having helped the Karoui brothers to cross borders illegally.
He also clarified that Tunisia can issue an official request to extradite them from Algeria after the issuance of the two search warrants, noting that the Tunis court of first instance had issued a warrant against Ghazi Karoui, in another case.
Recall that the Algerian authorities arrested the leader of the “Qalb Tounes” party and the owner of the “Nessma” channel, against a backdrop of a case that had dragged on since 2006 linked to financial manipulation and fraud.
His brother Ghazi Karoui, the suspended deputy, was also arrested.
The arrest took place in the Algerian region of Tébessa, near the Kasserine border.
