The United States Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said, during a videoconference interview, Friday night, with the head of the Government of Hichem Mechichi that the United States  is a strategic and important ally of Tunisia. She insisted on  her country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

According to the statement published by the government presidency , the US supports Tunisia in the economic, financial, social and health fields. “We are alongside Tunisians in their fight against the pandemic, she supported, reporting that the US has placed Tunisia among the first countries that will benefit from US Vaccine Donations.”

Sherman,also,  expressed Washington’s desire to continue to support Tunisia in its negotiations with the International Monetary Fund to restore financial equilibria in the country and achieve expected development.

The US manager welcomed the efforts of the Government to establish the foundations of good governance, combat corruption and guarantee the independence of justice, consolidate the human rights system and completion of the establishment of constitutional bodies.

For its part, the head of the Government Hichem Mechichi  highlighted the privileged historical relations established between the two countries and the common willingness to consolidate them in various sectors and to climb them at the level of a strategic  partnership.
