The Judicial Justice Council decided at the end of the disciplinary council meeting, held this Friday, August 20, to examine the case of the first president of the Court of Cassation Taieb Rached, to suspend him from his functions.

He also decided to transfer his case to the public prosecutor’s office to take the measures he deems necessary, in accordance with Article 63, paragraph 2 of the Law on the Superior Council of the Judiciary.

It should be recalled that the Council of Judicial Justice had already decided to lift the immunity of the first president of the Court of Cassation at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of Tunis, due to accusations of corruption brought against him by the former public prosecutor Bechir Akermi.

The latter accused of concealing important evidence in the files of the assassination of Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi, was, in turn, relieved of his duties and placed under house arrest.

His case was transferred to the prosecution.
