PDL MP Ahmed Sghaier was arrested during the day yesterday, according to party president Abir Moussi who announced it in a video broadcast live on his page. “He was tricked into the police station to have him arrested,” she said.

His colleague Awatef Grich explained in a statute published on his Facebook page, that his arrest comes because of “his defense of the poor and marginalized citizens of the village of Smenja with the Regional Council of Zaghouan in the context of a case between them to an investor ”.

She said “it is an honor to be accused of loving citizens and championing their causes.”

Sghaier is the third deputy arrested after Yassine Ayari who is serving a two-month prison sentence and Fayçal Tebbini, following a committal warrant issued against him by an investigating judge at the Jendouba Court of First Instance.
