According to a press release that the Presidency of the Republic has just published, this Thursday, September 16, 2021, a meeting took place between President Kais Saïed with Othman Jerandi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Ridha Gharsallaoui, in charge of the direction of the Ministry of the Interior, and Ali Mrabet, in charge of the direction of the Ministry of Health.

After taking into consideration the results of the meetings of the Tunisian-Libyan mixed ministerial safety and health committees which took place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 on the island of Djerba, the President of the Republic ordered the reopening of the borders with Libya, from Friday, September 17, 2021 at 7 a.m.

It should be mentioned that the President of the Republic indicated that any failure to meet the requirements of the sanitary protocol may lead to a review of the decision to reopen the borders.

Recall that, on July 8, the Libyan authorities decided to close the land and air borders with Tunisia for a short period for health reasons, before Tunisia announced on August 20 to continue closing the borders of Tunisia. “Ras Jedir” and “Dhhiba” for the same reasons, despite the announcement by Libya of their reopening from August 19.
