The results of the national survey on population and employment for the second trio of 2021 resulted in a near-stable unemployment rate of 17.9% compared to 17.8% during the first three months, with the National Institute of Statistics registering 746.4 thousand unemployed in the first three years, compared to 742.8 thousand unemployed in the first three months.
Low number of workers

According to the national survey on population and employment for the second third of this year, unemployment is at its highest level in the western regions of the country and southern Tunisia by 4 to 12 points, compared with the national average of 17.9 percent.
This rise in unemployment is due in large part to the country’s health crisis, which has had a direct impact on the disruption of the country’s economic cycle.
Compared to the pre-health crisis, unemployment in the services and tourism sectors was 1.2 points higher than in 2019.
Activity rate drops to 47% during the second trio of 2021
Tunisia’s active population, through the National Employment Survey for the second trio of 2021, was 4,153.3,000, compared with an average of 4,171.6 thousand during the first three months of 2021, a decrease of 18.3 thousand.
