The movement affirmed its rejection of all measures it described as “arbitrary”, including placing them in house arrest without judicial permission and without explanation, and in accordance with an “unconstitutional” law, and preventing tens of thousands of Tunisians from traveling based on their professional qualities or their political or human rights activity and with verbal instructions and far from all legal guarantees.

Itcalled on all political forces and national and human rights organizations to respond to the call for dialogue to defend Tunisian democracy and to address all violations of the basic rights of Tunisians.

It urged  Ennahda movement and its activists to rally around their movement, adhere to the principles they believed in, not succumb to provocations, and contribute with all the people in any work that would enhance national unity and social solidarity and support the participants and links between all members of society, according to the statement.

For its part, the parliamentary bloc of the Ennahda movement said in a statement today, Monday, August 16, 2021, that it is following the sequence of “arbitrary measures” that have been taken since the announcement of the decisions on July 25 and the serious violations they represented in the interpretation of the constitutional text, including the repeated attacks on rights and freedoms. Following are the procedures for preventing travel without judicial decisions, placing many citizens under house arrest, and referring civilians to military courts.

It demanded to get out as soon as possible from the exceptional situation towards returning the country to a normal situation and to resort to the country’s constitution and ordinary laws, and the respect of the state and its institutions for the principles of human rights and the preservation of public freedoms.
