Former National Security Adviser, retired Admiral Kamal Al-Akrout, told “JDD Tunisia”, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, that whoever describes his statement, which he published on his Facebook page, as statement No. 1, does insult the military establishment in which he grew up and spent 40 years, indicating that those who are talking about coups and Statement No. 1 are the main culprits in the situation Tunisia has reached while they are maintaining failure.
Al-Akrout explained that his statement was “an invitation to every Tunisian who wants the good of his/her country” to stand together because, according to him, “the time for rescue is far from selfishness.”
Our interlocutor said that the current political system has brought us to this situation while the political class is standing helpless.
He pointed out that the Tunisian arena is full of competencies and capabilities, and each side has a proposal to find a solution to get out of the crisis, adding that if these forces converge, they will definitely find the way out, as he put it.
It is worth noting that Admiral Kamal Al-Akrout published a post on Tuesday in which he said:
“The time for salvation has come, and the duty calls upon everyone who rejects the continuation of the system of failure, badness and political decay from all sides of the country as well as its people abroad, to gather forces for our right to take a comprehensive and transparent account of the various fields, especially public finances, and rid the country of the system of tyranny of some parties which monopolize the country’s assets as well as the national decision. The time has come to restore sovereignty to the people to express their free will and to bring Tunisia out of the quagmire of failure, chaos and corruption by enforcing the rule of law on all.”
