Walid Hajam, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Qais Saeed, commented today, Tuesday, August 10, 2021, on the decision to ban travel to public and political figures, stressing that the travel ban was a precautionary measure taken against some people. Corruption files, open court cases, or suspicion of misappropriating Tunisians’ money.
Hajam stressed that the legal argument is available against them and that “there is no room for arbitrariness” and that “there is no intention to limit freedoms or put anyone in prison.”

In a telephone intervention on IFM radio, he said: “We in the Presidency of the Republic do not practice dictatorship or unilateral rule, and we do not confiscate people’s freedoms. What has been achieved in Tunisia during the last decade..no one can dare to revert to these gains..
He added, “The Presidency of the Republic has nothing to do with the list of those banned from traveling…There is an administration at the level of the Ministries of Interior and Justice, and there is coordination with the Presidency of the Republic regarding the travel ban.. The decision to ban is not arbitrary and not impressionistic.. Every person with corruption files or a judicial file should settle the matter.” His status and then he can travel.. There is no intention to limit freedoms or put anyone in prison.. The decision to ban travel is not taken by the Presidency of the Republic, but by the Ministries of Interior and Justice after informing and coordinating with the Presidency.

Hajam: Kais  Saied does not mind appointing a woman to head the government.

Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Walid Al-Hajam, confirmed that the President of the Republic, Qais Saeed, has no objection to appointing a woman to head the next government, and that the only condition for appointment is competence, ability and confidence, noting that the announcement of the appointment and formation of the next government will take place in accordance with legal procedures and in the framework of respect for the constitution. .
