The Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), Sami Tahri said on Saturday that “the demonstration is a right unless it is made a means to divide the Tunisians and create two peoples in the country “.

In the occasion of the meeting of the UGTT regional administrative commission in Medenine, Tahri added, in a statement to media, that the organization is not concerned by the protest movement organized today at the avenue Habib Bourguiba in Tunis and will not participate in any event opposed to it.

The union official added that the UGTT calls for dialogue and consultation and not to be drawn into violence, believing that the mobilization of the street in different ways in the current situation can lead to a conflict that the UGTT refuses.

He added that the central trade union considers that contacts between the President of the Republic and all parties, organizations and others are necessary to get the country out of the current political crisis.

According to him, the country requires more interest from the UGTT, particularly in the areas of the economy, health and the fight against the coronavirus.
