In a report issued by the Ministry of the Interior on Saturday evening, the Public Prosecution authorized the seizure of equipment including tents, chairs and sticks used to concentrate the tents.
The seizure was carried out, according to the Ministry of the Interior, after a group of people deliberately tried to forcibly set up tents on Habib Bourguiba Street in the capital, Saturday, at two o’clock in the afternoon, to exploit them for the sit-in, in violation of the law and regulations in force.
The Public Prosecution also authorized the evacuation of the public road with the presentation of each party involved in the attack on the security personnel, and entrusted a specialized team of the National Guard to continue the search, which currently includes 10 people.
The Ministry of Interior stated that some of the aforementioned group violently attacked a number of security cadres while the security units were confronting to prevent the tents from being set up and implementing the law.
And it indicated that the research is still underway to reveal the rest of the parties involved, and to complete all the necessary investigations and review the Public Prosecution, to decide what it sees as precautionary measures.
The Ministry affirmed its keenness to respect the rights and freedoms that are exercised within the law, and continues to carry out its duty to enforce the laws and regulations in force in order to establish the supremacy of law over everyone without exception.
The political activist and representative of the “Citizens Against the Coup” campaign, Jawhar bin Mbarek, announced, on Saturday, that the campaign’s executive body decided to suspend the sit-in carried out by its supporters on Habib Bourguiba Street since Friday evening, on the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of the revolution, “due to violent security interference. which the protesters are subjected to,” as he said.
