The Ministry of Women, Family, Childhood and the Elderly expressed its condemnation and, thus, its rejection of the violent discourse promoted on social media, which is based on indecent assault and insulting the dignity of Tunisian women human rights defenders.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Women affirmed that the dignity of Tunisian women is above all considerations and that difference cannot be a pretext to violate the right of the female elite to freedom of expression and difference. Women are the elite that we are all proud of, just as it is the case with every woman in this country, regardless of their different intellectual tendencies.

The ministry calls for the necessity of creating a culture of difference for the good of Tunisia, spreading awareness of difference, strengthening its conditions and discourse, and giving it an essential place.

The Ministry will ensure the proper implementation of the provisions of Law No. 58 of 2017 on combating violence against women with all relevant structures and institutions.
