On Monday, June 21, 2021, Sami Tahri, the assistant secretary-general and spokesperson for the Tunisian General Labor Union, accused the government of trying to “destroy public institutions”, citing the example of Tunisair (the national airline of Tunisia), recalling that it had been without CGM (Chief General Manager) for eight months.

Tahri criticized the fact that the Office of Air Ports remained without a CGM for two months during the peak season, wondering about “the government’s intentions not to appoint one so far.”

In a blog post on his Facebook page, Tahri wrote : “This is for you to know how public institutions are destroyed, just as they did with Tunisair, which remained for eight months without a Chief General Manager, then the appointment was made by quotas.

Here is the government today, leaving the Office of Air Ports. Two months without a CGM at the height of the season and at a time when debt files are opened and when we are waiting for free zone and frêt shipping obligations agreements, along with the struggle with parallel companies that are lurking… At this point, al-Tahri asks in great astonishment: “What do you intend to do?”
