President Kais Saied appointed Rida Gharsallaoui , who was previously in charge of running the Ministry of the Interior, as Consul General in Paris, to succeed Taher Arbaoui, while Khalil Jendoubi was appointed Consul General in Milan to succeed Adel ben Abdullah.

Prior to his latest appointment, Rida Gharsallaoui (a first-class general police governor) took over on July 29, 2021, the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior, after Saied appointed him to this position when he announced exceptional measures after activating Chapter 80 of the constitution and dismissing the government of Hichem Mechichi.

Rida Gharsllaoui previously served as an advisor to the Presidency of the Republic in the National Security Department.

Rida Gharsllawi was assigned to the General Administration of Head of State Security and Official Figures in 1996, where he assumed his duties at the rank of police governor.

Gharsallaoui has also held different positions for the various interests of the General Administration of Presidential Security.
