Mohammed Karim Krifa, a member of parliament’s Free Constitutional Bloc, told JDD Tunisie on Monday (July 12th) that they had set out to gather signatures for a new petition to withdraw confidence from Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi.
He stated that a large number of deputies expressed their willingness to sign this petition, insisting that 16 deputies from the Free Constitutional Bloc have so far passed on this petition.
He attributed the reason for the launch of this petition to what he described as legal breaches, manipulation of public order, disrespect and decision-making without quorum, pointing out that the Parliamentary Office changed the venue of the meeting without prior notice and without passage to the Office of the Council, in addition to the start of the session without television broadcasting as stipulated in the rules of procedure.
The deputies of the Constitutional Bloc announced their boycott of the plenary session, which is now taking place in the sub-building of the People’s Congress on the discussion of the economic recovery bill and the settlement of exchange violations.
The head of the reform bloc, Hassouna Nasfi, said at a joint press conference with the Democratic Bloc and The Taya Tunis Bloc that the petition of no confidence from Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi reached 106 signatures last Friday.
