The head of government, Hichem Mechichi, denounced, during a meeting of the crisis unit, yesterday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, the “contradictory information” on the shortage of oxygen in a number of hospitals across the country.

Quick denial

Minutes after repeated calls for distress, especially from Sousse hospitals, the Director General of the University Hospital, Farhat Hached, denied in a statement to Mosaique Radio that the oxygen had run out.

The official confirmed that the stock currently available is about 2,000 liters and is sufficient for another ten hours, and the truck is expected to arrive to supply the hospital with oxygen within two hours at the latest, and the hospital’s share will be 4,000 liters.

The Regional Director of Health in Sousse, Mohamed Ghodhbani, confirmed that the demand for oxygen in the hospitals of the region has increased due to the high number of resident Covid 19 patients whose cases require large quantities of the substance, explaining that Saturday night is no different from its predecessors in Sousse hospitals and similar to the rest of the Republic’s hospitals that suffer from severe shortages. in oxygen.

The regional director said, “We are managing this situation day by day, according to the available quantities of oxygen in the country, noting that the supply takes place daily for the Sahloul and Farhat Hashad hospitals, which have oxygen tanks, while the rest of the local hospitals are supplied with oxygen bottles.”
