“JDD Tunisia” was informed, this Sunday, August 29, 2021, by an Algerian judicial source that the Algerian authorities have arrested the leader of the “Qalb Tounes” party and the owner of the “Nessma” channel, against the backdrop of a lingering affair since 2006 related to financial manipulation and fraud.
His brother Ghazi Karoui, the suspended MP, was also arrested.
The Algerian public prosecutor authorized the arrest of Nabil Karoui, under investigation, with the possibility of his extradition to Tunisia, if the Tunisian authorities so requested, and if serious charges were attached to him which could lead to his extradition.
It should be noted that, Tunisia has not yet requested his extradition by the Algerian authorities.
Karoui is a Tunisian businessman and owner of Nessma channel , presidential candidate in 2019, accused of money laundering and currency smuggling since 2016.
It should be mentioned that on Tuesday June 15, 2021, the prosecution released the leader of the “Qalb Tounes” party, Nabil Karoui, who had been arrested since December 25, 2020, .
