The National Institute of Statistics (INS) today issued a press release on September 5, 2021, on the decline of inflation in consumption during August 2021 to 6.2 percent, after a significant rise from 5.7 percent in June to 6.4 percent in July.
The institute said the decline was mainly due to a decrease in the pace of price increases between July and August compared to the same period last year, as the pace of food price rises decreased by 7.4 percent from 8.0 percent the previous month, and the price of the alcohol and tobacco group rose 19.1 percent from 26.1 percent.
The institute calculated that the pace of food prices rising this month has evolved by 7.4 percent as a result of a 21 percent increase in poultry prices, fresh vegetable prices of 21.3 percent and 17.5 percent price of food oils, especially olive oil, by 19.2 percent.
The statement added that the implicit inflation record for The Month of Out 2021, i.e. inflation without energy and nutrition, fell to 5.9% from 6.1% in July 2021. Free-to-food prices increased by 6.0% from 6.1% the previous month and 6.6% for framed items, with an annual slide of 8.0% compared to 4.7% for framed food.
In this context, the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development issued a communiqué on 31 Aug. 2021 announcing the identification of commercial profit margins for some cleaning materials and setting maximum selling prices for potato and poultry products starting Wednesday, September 1, 2021, after the recent record rise of some essential materials.
