Today, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, the “I Watch” organization announced that it will submit a pledge request to the Court of Accounts to take the measures required by the electoral law against the Ennahda party.
The organization said that it would file a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance 1 for the existence of a suspicion of anonymous financing within the meaning of Basic Law No. 26 of 2015 dated August 7, 2015 related to combating terrorism and preventing money laundering.
It is worth mentioning that, the organization revealed that, in addition to signing two Lobbying contracts prior to the 2014 and 2019 elections, Ennahda concluded two other contracts with the American Burson-Marsteller Company, prior to its tenth conference in 2016 and prior to the municipal elections of 2018. The value of the two mentioned contracts is about $355,850.79 (about one million dinars).
Recall that Ennahda concluded a “lobbying” contract that was registered on July 29, 2021 in the US Department of Justice through the British BCW LLC office, and it was published on August 3, 2021, noting that this contract is worth $30,000, according to the published documents.
A judicial investigation has been opened against three political parties, including Ennahda and Qalb Tounes, on suspicion of receiving funds from abroad during the 2019 election campaign.
