The President of the Republic does it again and this time appoints a woman at the head of the prestigious Tunisian embassy in Washington, after having appointed a first woman Najla Bouden Romdhane as head of government.

Hanene Tajouri was appointed by the President of the Republic as ambassador in Washington’s embassy.

This is the first time that a woman has been appointed to this post which has seen a succession of big names, some of whom were subsequently appointed to head Tunisian diplomacy: Mongi Slim, Habib Bouguiba Jr, Habib Ben Yahya … The current holder of the post Othman Jenrandi was, in turn, assigned to the United States but as the permanent representative of Tunisia to the Security Council in New York.

It is worth mentioning that Tajouri is a career diplomat. A public services advisor at ENA, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was posted to the Tunisian Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal and appointed Ambassador to Berlin in 2020.
