A member of Tunisia’s Ennahda movement has hinted at the possible resignation of frozen parliament speaker Rached Ghannouchi. The movement’s leader Mohamed Namani, who has previously criticized the extraordinary measures taken by President Kais Saied, said in a press statement on Wednesday that the resignation of Ennahda’s president and parliament is possible. Constant criticism

These statements came as criticism continues inside and outside the movement of Ghannouchi, particularly after the political crisis between him and the Tunisian president. Ennahda leader Zoubeir Hadadi said Ghannouchi had lost control of the movement’s bases. “Ennahda’s rules no longer respond to their president,” said the former head of Ghannouchi’s office, adding that they have become part of tunisia’s street that rejects parliament and Ghannouchi’s presidency. He also said that the movement is currently in isolation after the July 25th resolutions, noting that “all the recent statements express the position of its president, not its institutions.

” Under Ghannouchi’s presidency, the movement has experienced multiple divisions and disagreements within it, over Ghannouchi’s policy in the country in general, and Ennahdha in particular. Last August, Ghannouchi announced the dismissal of all members of Ennahda’s executive office. This came days after Saied announced on July 25th that extraordinary measures had been taken, including freezing the work of parliament and dismissing the government. Rifi-JDD
