As part of the follow-up to the results of the July 5, 2021 meeting, the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, chaired, last night, Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Carthage Palace, an urgent meeting on the health situation in the country according to a post on his official Facebook page.

The head of state insisted that it is necessary to critically read what was done in the past months, and why Tunisia has regressed to this situation.

The President of the Republic ordered that a number of options should be reviewed after the failure to address the Covid-19 pandemic and the worsening of the situation in a number of areas.

He also made it clear that he has done what is required by responsibility and what is imposed by duty towards this country, but today the responsibility requires reviewing a number of choices that experience proved to be wrong or incomplete.

The President of the Republic insisted that the Tunisian state is one, and there is no room for centers of power to compete for control or to explode it from within. The head of state stressed that he will personally watch over all the details so that each party assumes its responsibilities, as Tunisia has suffered greatly from this pandemic and political pandemics that require not a vaccine but rather antibiotics that put an end to these deteriorating conditions.

It should be mentionned that the meeting was attended by Hichem Mechichi, the Minister of National Defense, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, the Minister, Director of the Presidential Office, the Acting Minister of Health, and senior military and security frameworks. The Head of State thanked all those involved in the medical, paramedical, military and civil frameworks and civil society for their strenuous and continuous efforts everywhere.

The President of the Republic expressed his displeasure with the attempt to use this crisis for political ends, as the health of the citizen is not a commodity tossed by forces or pressure groups, and it is not like shares in commercial companies governed by the laws of supply and demand.
