At this meeting, the Tunisian delegation reiterated Tunisia’s full readiness to organize this summit on the agreed date, despite the difficult economic situation.
Also, the Tunisian delegation reviewed the great progress in view of the tireless efforts made, at all levels and by all parties, in order to provide the best suitable conditions for the success of this important event, in full coordination with the International Organization of la Francophonie, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Tunisian position has received wide support from many member states of the International Organization of la Francophonie based on reports about the serious preparations underway to host the summit on the island of Djerba, while some other member states expressed their aspiration to create all the conditions for the success of this event, including ensuring the improvement global epidemiological conditions.
The discussions resulted in Tunisia hosting this summit, as was programmed, but the date of its convening on the island of Djerba was postponed to 2022 in order to secure a wide attendance at the highest level and not have to hold it virtually i.e. online.
In the next few days, this proposal will be presented to the Francophone Ministerial Council for approval.
