The Libyan government is working to overcome tension with Tunisia against the backdrop of media exchanges between the two countries regarding the export of terrorism.

In this regard, the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, said in a post on his Twitter account today, Tuesday, August 31, 2021, that “false allegations” regarding his country’s security situation with Tunisia will not negatively affect the brotherly relations between the two countries.

“Our countries suffer from the problem of terrorism, and sister Tunisia is no exception,” Dbeibah added.

And he added, “The false allegations about the security situation between the two countries will not affect the depth of the fraternal relationship, and we will remain one people in two countries.”

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, stressed during his speech at the meeting of the neighboring countries of Libya held in the Algerian capital on the 30th and 31st, that Tunisia has always emphasized on every occasion and at all bilateral, regional and international levels that the security of Libya is one of Tunisia’s security and that its stability is stability for Tunisia, adding that Tunisia has spared no effort to support the Libyans in whatever options they see fit, away from any interference in Libyan internal affairs.

Othman Jerandi’s intervention came after the statements of the head of the interim Libyan government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, in which he accused Tunisia of exporting terrorism to his country, which provoked angry reactions in Tunisia and Libya, at a time when some blamed the Tunisian media, which promoted rumors about the “leak” of dozens Terrorists from Libya to carry out bombings in Tunisia.

On Friday, August 27, 2021, the head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, stressed that “the Libyan people are a free people who will never accept accusations of terrorism by some neighboring countries.”
