On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, Samir Majoul, President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, received Ferid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank Group for the Middle East and North Africa, in the presence of a number of members of the executive office and officials of the union, and officials of the Bank.

What was confirmed during a meeting, on Tuesday, with the President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Samir Majoul, and the Vice President of the World Bank Group for the Middle East and North Africa, Ferid Belhadj, is that Tunisia needs a reform program that can restore growth, improve the investment climate and enhance capacity competitiveness of the economy.”

During the meeting, which was devoted to discussing the economic and social situation in Tunisia and the Bank’s related programs, Belhadj reiterated the Bank’s commitment to continue supporting and accompanying Tunisia at this stage and its readiness to open up to the Tunisian private sector, which remains the main engine of growth.

It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, met, on Monday at Carthage Palace, with Ferid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank Group for the Middle East and North Africa. The two parties had discussed mechanisms of continuous cooperation between Tunisia, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other international financial institutions.
