The same source added that “it is Tunisia, which has been leading a campaign against corruption in recent days, particularly in the political world, which has asked Algeria to extradite the businessman to Tunisia, Nabil Karoui, established for a few weeks in Algeria. Algeria did not hesitate to respond to the Tunisian demand by demanding in exchange the extradition to Algeria of the political refugee, Slimane Bouhafas. ”
Recall that, “JDD Tunisia” was informed, this Sunday, August 29, 2021, by an Algerian judicial source that the Algerian authorities have arrested the leader of the “Qalb Tounes” party and the owner of the “Nessma” channel, against a background of case that had dragged on since 2006 linked to financial manipulation and fraud and that his brother Ghazi Karoui was also arrested.
Our sources also told us that the Algerian public prosecutor authorized the arrest of Nabil Karoui, under investigation, with the possibility of his extradition to Tunisia, if the Tunisian authorities so requested, and if serious charges were attached to him which could lead to his extradition.
