Tunisia’s economy grew by 16.2 percent in the second round of 2021, according to a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics on 15 Utd 2021.

According to the table of statistics on the calculation of triple changes, triple GDP in 2019-2021 fell by 2 percent during the second trimester of 2021 compared to the first trio this year, due to a 35.9 percent decline in the value added of the services and tourism sector, 20.9 percent transport and a 17.1 percent decline in construction.

The institute added that the agriculture and fishing sector recorded a decline of 407 percent, while output in all laboratory industries such as textiles, clothing and footwear grew by 53 percent compared to a 24.1 percent increase in the mining sector, as well as the development of the oil and natural gas extraction sector by 16.3 percent by the end of the second trio of 2021.

Trade improved 23 percent in the first seven months of 2021 from 19.5 percent in the first seven months of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Exports amounted to 26,431.1 million dinars, compared to 21,496.3 million dinars during the same period in 2020. Imports improved by 21 percent from 23.3 percent in the first seven months of 2020. Imports amounted to 35,156.4 million dinars, compared to 29,063.4 million dinars recorded during the same period.

The country has experienced a near-total halt to all economic and commercial activities in Tunisia due to the total quarantine, which lasted for nearly two years, causing a 19.8 percent negative growth in the past year, according to official statistics from the National Institute of Statistics.
