The Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) called on the head of government responsible for managing the affairs of the interior ministry, Hichem Mechichi, to take responsibility for the violations committed.
The UGTT condemned what it called barbaric violence perpetrated by police against a youth in Sidi Hassine. The youngster was the victim of acts of violence and was stripped of his clothes on the public road and in front of pedestrians and residents of the area.
The Central Trade Union warned against any overruns committed by some police officers against citizens and protest movements and also called for an investigation and for bringing to justice the perpetrator of these acts of abuse of force.
She also blamed the acting interior minister Hichem Mechichi for these repeated human rights abuses, and argued that these practices used to silence protests only add fuel to the fire.
