An informed source confirmed to “JDD Tunisie”, that a security unit went yesterday, Friday, August 20, 2021, to the house of the former Director General of National Security and the head of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee Rashad Batayeb, to inform him of his placement under house arrest, with the permission of the person in charge of running the Ministry of Interior, Reda El Gharslawi.

 Rashad Betayeb has been subject to suspicion of financial and administrative corruption.

On September 17, 2019, the former Director General of National Security, Rashad Beltayeb, was announced to head the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, to succeed retired Brigadier General of the National Army, Mokhtar Nasr.

The National Anti-Terrorism Committee was established at the Presidency of the Government in accordance with Article 66 of Organic Law No. 2015-26 dated August 07, 2015 related to combating terrorism and preventing money laundering, which was revised and completed by virtue of Organic Law No. 2019-09 dated January 23, 2019.

The National Anti-Terrorism Committee undertakes a number of tasks, including issuing guidelines to prevent and combating terrorism and assisting in the development of programs and policies aimed at preventing terrorism.
