In a communiqué on Friday, August 6, 2021, the Coalition for Tunisia called on the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, to extend the exceptional period to take more measures and reform measures, and to consult with national organizations, parties and components of civil society that had not previously been involved in the system of corruption and failure to determine priorities and establish an effective and feasible roadmap.

The party considered that what was destroyed during the decade of failure and fragmentation of the state cannot be repaired during the exceptional period specified for 30 days. The coalition called on Kais Saied to activate Chapter 163 and work to hold those involved in corruption accountable, those who infiltrated government institutions by fraud, as revealed by the Audit Department’s report of electoral abuses and crimes for the year 2019.  The coalition also called on the president to approve a popular referendum to change the system of government, reform the electoral system, and call for premature legislative elections.
