Today, Thursday, August 5, 2021, the Secretary-General of the Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi, stressed the need to return to the people and hold early elections, saying, “When there is a difference, the most powerful democracies return to the one who delegated them, which is the people,” as he put it.
“The people came out and rose up and united with the people’s choices,” Tabboubi continued, while supervising the commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the battle of August 5, 1947, at the headquarters of the Regional Labor Union in Sfax.
The Secretary-General of the Union stressed the labor organization’s adherence to the principles of the December 17, January 14 revolution, “occupying freedom with national dignity,” as he put it.
The need to expedite the appointment of a head of government
Taboubi considered that the Presidency of the Republic has a team working on selecting a prime minister, stressing the need to expedite his appointment without haste and the need to learn from past mistakes when choosing.
He also made it clear that the Labor Union has a vision for the country’s future, but it will not disclose it due to the current state of ambiguity and the lack of knowledge of the President’s vision to determine whether they are with or against it.
We recall that the Labor Union confirmed during the meeting of the national administrative body of the Tunisian General Labor Union on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, that the exceptional measures taken by the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, were a response to popular demands and a final solution to the complexity of the crisis the country is going through in the absence of any indication of other solutions.
