Today, Sunday, October 3, 2021, several cities witnessed marches in support of the decisions of the Tunisian President, Kais Saied , and demanding the dissolution of Parliament, whose work was suspended by a decree of the President on July 25.

The marches came in response to calls by activists in response to protests organized last week that condemned the decisions of the Tunisian President and demanded the return of Parliament to its work.

It should be noted that the “October 3rd marches” in support of President Kais Saïed and his exceptional decisions were not limited to the capital only, but the president’s supporters organized marches in several governorates calling for the dissolution of Parliament and the suspension of the constitution.

Recall that, Tunisia has taken an important political step since July 25, 2021, when Saied took a series of decisions, including: suspending the activities of Parliament, lifting the immunity of its deputies, abolishing the constitutionality monitoring body, issuing legislation by presidential decrees, chairing the Public Prosecution, and dismissing the head of government, provided that he assumes the executive authority. with government assistance.

On September 22, Saied issued Presidential Decree No. 117, by which he decided to abolish the constitutionality monitoring body for laws, and issue legislation by presidential decree.

It is worth mentioning that, the majority of parties reject Saied’s exceptional decisions, and some consider them a coup against the constitution, while other parties view them as a reform given the political and economic crises that Tunisia lives.
