Tunisian President Kais Saied on Thursday evening (September 30th, 2021) at the Carthage Palace, received Najib Gtari, president of the Court of Accounting, who presented the head of state with a report on the control of the administrative and financial conduct of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

During their debate, the President of the Republic denounced the issuance of political positions by some members of the Electoral Commission on the recent extraordinary measures, commenting that “it is said to be a supreme body, but the supreme body has to be independent and if it is truly independent, it should not interfere in such accountabilities,” referring to presidential order 117.

The head of state praised the great efforts of the Court of Accounting to prepare reports and audit accounts, calling on the judiciary to assume its full responsibilities at this historic moment in Tunisia and to hold those involved in corruption cases accountable so that the Tunisian people can regain their right and the Tunisian state will get rid of the evidence it has been suspended in the past decades.
