After saluting the flag on the occasion of the Republic Day on Sunday, July 25, 2021, Speaker of Parliament Rached Ghannouchi said, “We assure the Tunisian people of the continuity of the state and the unity of its institutions, this state that is living a fierce war against a common enemy, which is Corona, and we affirm that the people will eventually win.”

He insisted on the need to “revive the elements of unity among the Tunisian people and preserve the country whose elite and institutions deserve more solidarity, avoiding quarrels, and reviving the elements of life and strength in the people.”

He called for the need to unite ranks and to avoid quarrels, divisions and inciting grudges, and to confront the enemy as one, as he put it.

He added, “I thank all those who helped me during my illness, including the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, the head of the government Hichem Mechichi , and the medical staff at the Military Hospital.”

He continued, “The marches are a right guaranteed by the constitution as long as they adhere to the law, and Tunisia today does not deserve demonstrations, but rather deserves to demonstrate against Corona and the union of all civil, official and popular forces, the opposition and the authority.”

He added, “Today, there is no longer any opposition and authority when there is a danger to the country, and hundreds of deaths are recorded, and today there is only a united Tunisia against the epidemic, and after that, for every recent incident.”
