Minister of Foreign Affairs Othman Jerandi expressed Tunisia’s aspiration to further strengthen cooperation frameworks with the United States of America at the bilateral and multilateral levels and give a new impetus to the strategic partnership that brings the two countries together, a call that comes down as part of the meeting he gathered Friday, September 3, 2021, at the ministry’s headquarters, Donald Bloom, Ambassador of the United States to Tunisia, He also reiterated his country’s desire to continue coordination and consultation with the Tunisian leadership on all issues of common concern, as well as to continue to support Tunisia at all levels in order to complete democratic construction and restore our country to the pattern of economic growth.
Jثrandi stressed during the meeting that the decisions taken by President Kais Saied on July 25, fall within the framework of the constitution and correct the democratic process, and to preserve the permanence of the state and its institutions, according to a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He also stressed the President’s commitment, through many of his statements, to moving forward with the democratic process in respect of human rights, freedoms and the rule of law.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the situation in Libya, where Jerandi noted the durability of Tunisian-Libyan fraternal relations, and the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to promote them in the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
