The Head of Government, Hichem Mechichi, appealed to all stakeholders in public affairs, to assume responsibility, in order to save the country.

He added that he has no dispute with political parties, opposition parties or any other party; he is rather “fighting a battle against poverty and the public financial situation, as well as the Corona pandemic and to improve the security situation.”
There are also great security and economic challenges facing Tunisia, the state of public finances is very dangerous, and there is no legitimacy other than saving the country, especially with the continuing demand and the cessation of work.
The Head of Government called on the political class to unite against whatever threatens the state, just as Tunisians have previously stood united against terrorism, saying: “The economic and social conditions do not accept bids or scoring political points.”
Regarding the recent increases that included a number of basic materials and some vital sectors, Hichem Mechichi indicated that responsibility necessitates taking these measures, even if they are unpopular,” as he put it.
The Head of Government also indicated that these increases had been planned since 2018, but they were not taken for electoral purposes, given that officials were concerned with electoral benefits,” according to his statement.
