This is not a first and this time Kaïs Saïed has gone a step further. The President of the Republic, who made a speech the day before yesterday Friday, on the occasion of a signing ceremony of the distribution agreement for social assistance in favor of poor families, did not only speak of the historic days that Tunisia lives. Days marked by exceptional circumstances related to the economic, financial and health situation.
Multiple charges
And if one of the passages of this speech caused some controversy when it spoke of the responsibility of the justice sector in everything that happens in the country and the responsibility of magistrates by inviting them to apply the law honestly too as much for the destitute as for those who think they are untouchable, it is especially the words of the President of the Republic about the assassination attempts that target him that have more monopolized the attention.
In this regard, it is the first time that Saïed quotes in this context, and for the first time, the Islamists who act very far from Islam and these precepts: are scheming. I tell them that I am only afraid of God despite their miserable attempts “.
Suddenly, should Tunisians take such accusations seriously?
A priori, this is indeed the case because the threats exist and the passage to action, in a country which has already experienced such dark episodes, is very possible.
Some experts in the field and informed political observers believe that the President’s statements should be taken at the highest level of seriousness and gravity! ”.
There was no shortage of “plans” for assassination
Already, during an interview on Tuesday, June 15 with the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State Kaïs Saïed who received the then head of government, Hichem Mechichi, as well as the former Ali Laarayedh, Elyes Fakhfakh and Youssef Chahed , said some parties want him out of power, even through assassination, according to video of the meeting posted on the presidency’s Facebook page.
Other unofficial reports echo other assassination attempts. We remember well the night out of the President of the Republic in the middle of the night to spend the rest of the night in a barracks near Bizerte. On this occasion, reference was made to an intervention by the French secret services, which asked Saïed to leave the presidential palace following information about a possible assassination attempt.
Last June, the President of the Republic was to attend the final of the Tunisian Cup organized in Djerba. There, too, this trip was canceled at the last moment for the same reasons since it was revealed, in total discretion, the existence of a missile which was set up not far from the stadium to be launched on the official stand. from the stadium!
But what exactly is going on and who could seek to dismiss the President and for what reasons?
It’s all about corruption
The answers, although not too convincing, due to lack of evidence, are not lacking. Because, if Saïed does not stop talking about it, it is because he has at his disposal all the necessary information which goes in this direction, especially since he receives regular security reports coming separately from the ministries of Defense and the Interior. And then, Saïed put, at the top of his priorities, the necessary war against corruption. However, the country has been invaded, during the last decade, by mafias and smugglers who benefited from the green light of Ennahdha and other parties in power, always ready to collaborate with these mafiosis. The arrival of Kaïs Saïed to power should by no means satisfy them and his stubbornness in fighting corruption has disrupted the plans of the Islamists and their accomplices and could encourage them to eliminate him.
And then, we must not forget the secret visit of Rached Ghannouchi to Qatar, a visit which has been denounced by opposition members and by the Presidency of the Republic. And there is no doubt that it is Ghannouchi, the one who has a fortune estimated at 27 billion dinars, according to the newspaper “Al Anwar”, who is targeted by the statements of Kaïs Saïed, when he affirms that ” true patriots do not organize meetings abroad in order to find a way to remove the President of the Republic even by assassinating him ””.
Unveil the truth
This means that such threats should not be taken lightly and the sad episodes of the assassinations of Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi are there to encourage us to condemn any attempt to resort to such practices which risk plunging the country into chaos.
For the moment, these are only accusations without too much conviction or evidence, but vigilance must be required to protect Saïed and to defend the foundations of the Republic which do not please those who want to perpetuate the vagueness which has persisted for ten long years.
Likewise, it is no longer time for hesitation and stammering in the face of such a serious and threatening danger for the future of the country. The time is right to denounce and to reveal the names of the people and parties involved in this murderous scheme if ever the secret services and the competent authorities have tangible and flagrant evidence.
