Ennahda lawyer and leader Fawzi Jat allah told JDD Tunisie on Monday, August 16, 2021, that his law firm was assaulted by marking black fat on his door on the night of August 15-16, 2021.
He noted that he had examined the attack through an outlet to file a complaint.
He said that he is not hostile to anyone, but since a group of lawyers issued a founding statement for what they called “lawyers for the protection of rights and freedoms” to monitor violations and abuses of individual and public rights, after 25 July, the date of the announcement of President Kais Saied activating Chapter 80 of the Constitution, they were mutilated, crucified and instigated through social media sites after the publication of their names.
He explained that the rest of his colleagues who signed the statement were also harassed and threatened by telephone, along with a number of judges who denounced the violation of the law against their colleagues.
The statement condemned what it called “indiscriminate” arrests and night raids without respecting the prescribed criminal procedures and the prosecution of civilians before military courts.
Lawyers also condemned the targeting of foreign and Tunisian journalists, the closure of premises or the seizure of their equipment and the illegal disruption of their work.
