Constitutional law professor Amin Mahfoudh said in a blog post, september 5, 2021, on Facebook, that the president chose the right time to activate Chapter 80, stressing that he had advised him some time ago to activate it, “and wished that the head of state would appreciate “this event by presenting his work program for the coming period during this week so that we can check on the fate of the country and the people and no one is subject to injustice,” according to his blog post.

Mahfouz said he is not disturbed by those who use the term “coup” in Tunisia, noting that he defends his right to freedom of expression.

“Tunisia did not witness a coup, but an exceptional situation or a “state of emergency,” as described by the U.S. delegation yesterday, the constitutional law professor added. He denounced the parties that trade in religion and democracy, which exploited “the weakness of people to achieve personal goals” and dealt with “the state and its institutions with the logic of booty.”

Amin Mahfoudh said getting rid of what he described as democratic corruption (2011-2021) is only within the rule of law.
