The speaker of the frozen People’s Congress and the head of Ennahdha, Rached Ghannouchi, said in an interview with Al Jazeera Net that the President of the Republic has been on the way to dissolving parliament since he announced on July 25th the activation of Chapter 80 and violated the constitution and harmed a legitimate institution brought by elections expressed by the will of the Tunisian people. The head of state has to back off Ghannouchi called on the President of the Republic to back down from moving forward in violating the constitution and represented a coup against him, adding that the coming period of the country requires more statesmanship and opening the door to dialogue, participation and pluralism to enshrine democracy.
Recent resignations affect movement As for the recent resignations witnessed by Ennahdha on Saturday, July 25, 2021, which reached the level of resignation of 130 members and leaders, Ghannouchi said that it will negatively affect Ennahdha, especially since the movement has invested in them for decades, and they were militants within its structures, and added that these resignations would strengthen the foundations of dialogue solid movement and allow the young leaders of the administration dialogue and submit plans and projects that will contribute in addition.
Sticking to my parliamentary capacity As for the presidency of parliament through Ghannouchi that he remains committed to his parliamentary capacity, and that this status can only be withdrawn from him by the deputies themselves or by a voluntary decision stemming from the primacy of the national interest, and continued that there are parties behind the overthrow of the institution of parliament, without any program or plan to improve the social and economic situation of Tunisians and the coup against democracy by showing parliament in its worst form.
