Today, Saturday, August 28, 2021, the Member of Parliament whose jurisdiction has been suspended, Oussama Khlifi said that Tunisians are following with concern and confusion the deterioration of the economic, political, human rights and humanitarian conditions in the country due to what he described as a “remarkable deviation in the use of exceptional measures.”

Khlifi added in a blog post on his personal account on the Facebook website that instead of supporting freedoms, they were restricted through travel bans, house arrests, closing bodies, continuing to suspend the work of the elected legislative authority, Parliament, and the ongoing restrictions on journalists.

He warned of the danger of pushing towards suspending the constitution and undermining the legitimacy of the Assembly of People’s Representatives, thus canceling the legislative elections and opening the door to making the state of monopoly power a permanent state and transforming the president’s reading of article 80 as an unconstitutional justification for the coup.

He denounced the continuation of the rhetoric of inferiority, demonization and systematic heraldry against the people’s representatives, parties and social actors, and warned of the seriousness of what is being practiced against the people’s representatives, Faycel Tebini, Yassin Ayari and other political actors in Tunisia.

He stressed that some parties are pushing for the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the adoption of an absolute presidential system, and the preparation of legislative elections according to the president’s supporters and his committees to solve in the parliament as an alternative to the legitimacy of 2019/2024, through the legislative robbery of the electoral law and the parties law, summarizing the exclusion of political opponents.
