On Tuesday, 18Th of 2021, the Head of the Government of National Unity Abdelhamid Dbeibah instructed the Ministers of Interior and Communications to open the land border with Tunisia at the level of Ras Jadir Ben Guerdane crossings from The Madin state and Dheba Wazen from Tatooine state with the re-air navigation to resume flights between Libyan and Tunisian airports, beginning on Thursday, 19 Th.
On July 8, the Libyan government decided to close land and air ports with Tunisia due to the new CORONA virus outbreak and the mutated delta version.
The head of Libya’s national unity government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, said when he contacted President Kais Saied on Friday (July 9, 2021), that the decision to close the border with Tunisia was necessitated by health conditions and would be for a short time, adding that coordination exists for the purpose between the health ministers of the two countries.
On Saturday, the Libyan government lifted the “partial ban”, which it adopted on July 26, 2021, to stabilize the epidemiological situation related to the rate of infections with the new COV, calling for “continued commitment to implement precautionary measures, namely the wearing of muzzles and social spacing.”
