On the morning of Monday, July 26, the Democratic Current Party announced its disagreement with the President’s interpretation of Article 80 of the Constitution and his rejection of the resulting decisions and procedures that are outside the Constitution.
After an emergency meeting of its political office and parliamentary bloc, the party blamed the legitimate popular congestion, the social, economic and health crisis, and the blockage of the political horizon of the ruling coalition led by the Ennahda movement and the government of Hichem Mechichi.
In a statement, the current stated that it does not see a solution except within the framework of the constitution, calling on the President of the Republic and all democratic and civil forces and national organizations to unite efforts to get the country out of the crisis by respecting democracy and human rights and resisting political corruption.
He also called on all Tunisian women and men to express their opinions peacefully and not to be drawn into calls for mobilization from inside and outside.
