On Tuesday, Parliament approved the dispatch of military forces to the Republic of Central Africa under the United Nations flag. 105 MPs voted in favor, four abstained and no one refused.

Brahim Barteji, Minister of Defense declared during his speech that Tunisia’s participation with units abroad falls within the framework of the application of international conventions which govern the maintenance of peace and solidarity in the world. . He added that the delegation that will be sent to the Republic of Central Africa will strengthen the capacities of the national army.

Sending troops is a real exercise for the armed forces to adapt to the changes and dangers of terrorism and organized crime, said the minister.

Barteji noted that Tunisia participated in 23 missions under the flag of the United Nations and the African Union.
