The Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) Nouredine Taboubi called on the American unions to intervene with the federal government to speed up the shipment of medical supplies and doses of vaccine, in sufficient quantities, to Tunisia and to other African countries, which are experiencing a health crisis linked to the spread of Covid-19.
In a letter addressed Monday to the president of the American unions Comrade Richard Trumka, Taboubi affirmed that Tunisia is going through an unprecedented health crisis like all countries in the world, due to the worrying spread of the Covid-19 in return for limited resources in medical supplies and vaccines and the acute political and social crisis.
The secretary general of the UGTT specified in this letter, a copy of which has reached the TAP agency, that this request is part of trade union solidarity which is a principle common to all workers’ federations and also in because of the ability of American unions to intervene with the federal government.
