The budget deficit fell from 3368 million dinars (MD), at the end of May 2020, to 1422 MD, at the end of May 2021, which corresponds to a decrease of 57.7% and this, according to the document of the execution of the recently published state budget by the Ministry of the Economy, Finance, and Investment Support.
This decrease in the deficit is due to an improvement in budgetary resources of 13.6% to reach nearly 13 billion dinars, due to the increase in tax revenue of 18.3%, to 12 billion dinars, in May 2021.
It should be noted that the increase in tax revenue was favored by the positive trend, in particular in revenue drained by indirect taxes, in particular by VAT and consumption rights.
